Dr. Sebastián Díaz Ribes is a Spanish and European lawyer with practise in Spain and Gibraltar. He holds a Spanish law Bachelor and PHD  from University of Granada and a Postgrsduate Diploma in International Shipping Law From World Maritime University. He practises as a partner at Bufete Díaz y Asociados since 1998, and advice shipowners, charterers, P&I Clubs, insurers and surveyors on maritime disputes, including collisions, salvage, general average, pollution incidents ship arrests, detentions,  shipyards contracts, scraps matters and licenses and cargo damage, and has appeared in numerous proceedings before Spanish courts and other jurisdictions in a international team such as Tunisse, Morocco, Portugal, and UK. He has extensive experience with Turkish shipyards and repair markets, assisting Turkish owners in Spanish yards, supporting international owners with vessel scrapping in Türkiye, and advising on shipbuilding projects in Turkish shipyards. He also lectures in Maritime Law at the University of Gibraltar and has lectured for many years in Cádiz University. Dr. Díaz Ribes contributes to this panel with a practical, cross‑border perspective on the opportunities and challenges of the Turkish shipyard and repair sector from an EU view.
